Tom Bunn
Owner & General Contractor

I have been in the construction world since I was a kid.  My dad used to load my brother and I in the truck and take us with him while he did all kinds of projects around my Pennsylvania hometown.

My 15-year "real world" experience includes a corporate career as a project manager and  several construction related jobs before owning Bunn & Sons.  In recent years, I've taken a real liking to remodeling beautiful bathrooms, kitchens and basements!

In our spare time, Brook and I love living in Broomfield, escaping to the mountains when we can and are trying to soak up every minute with our very busy, growing-up-too-fast, tiny humans - Peter, Annabelle, Patrick & Zelie.

Fun facts: Tom is a Marine Corps veteran and a Geophysicist by education.

Owner & Back Office Guru

These days I handle all our back office work from typing up this very description on our website to making sure our books are in line to helping Tom come up with our long term vision.  We love what we do and I'm grateful to be a part of it!

Before owning Bunn & Sons, I was a "corporate American" mostly in Franchise Consulting.  I would never trade those years of learning everything from how to be an effective public speaker to how to grow a franchised business to how to navigate difficult conversations, but I am thrilled to be on the other side now as a business owner myself.  Every day is new, every client becomes a part of our story and it's really fun to write that story every day.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, taking walks, cooking yummy food and laughing with family and friends.

I truly love Residential Design / Build construction deeply and carry the same enthusiasm today that I had as a kid starting my dream to be like my Opa / Dad. I took my first architecture class and apprenticeship in 1995 because we wanted to stop paying pricey Architects then I was hooked for life! Instead of drafting the suggested duplex in that class, I drafted the entire White House by pencil and ruler. My designs are very logical, buildable, creative, meticulous, and on-budget.

Niwot HS and RMCAD-Interior Design alumni that loves to hike, camp, snowboard and go to hot springs. Proud father of Lola (15) and Lilly (11) along with 3 dogs Lucy, Lizzy, Loki and cat Sergio.

I was born in Colorado but grew up in northern New Mexico. After meeting my wife, Irene, while visiting my brother in Denver, I migrated back to Colorado to be with her. We’ve been blessed with a happy baby boy named Joseph, who looks at me as a giant jungle gym. It’s always playing time for Joseph once dad walks in the room.

I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in lighting design and production management.  I have spent 14 years managing productions in every genre, from symphonic concerts to HBO comedy specials to designing and building stage scenery. These experiences in addition to remodeling various homes I've owned over the years, laid the foundation for the skill set needed to manage projects for Bunn and Sons Home Renovations. I'm looking forward to working with you on your upcoming project!

I’ve always liked working with my hands; when I was younger I would help my dad and uncles if they were working around the house. I’ve always been intrigued by how things go together, so when I started construction it transferred to that. There are few things as rewarding as seeing the result of hard work pay off, and seeing how appreciative the homeowner is with the progress. Remodeling isn't like new construction where you rarely see the end result. I get to see the progress at each stage of the job, and then the reaction of the homeowner as they take the space back. There’s never a dull moment in remodeling, it keeps me on my toes and makes me think on the fly.

Working for a smaller company is a nice change of pace compared to what I’m used to coming from a bigger company. It’s more organized and everyone is on the same page; there’s no running around between various people to get an answer. Most importantly, the quality of the end product is excellent and all the customers are ecstatic with what we build them.

In my free time I like to go to local coffee shops, explore new places, and hang out with my cats.

I’ve always enjoyed creating something out of nothing. Turning a thought into a physical structure still brings me joy. I got into construction on a whim, and it ended up turning into a career. Working for such a small, team focused company has been great. When you work with the same people day in and day out, everything becomes seamless. I am continuing to develop not only my skills as a carpenter, but also all of the other little things that go into it, such as working with our clients to ensure they are getting the exact finished product they are dreaming of.
I live in Fort Lupton with my wife and 2 young kids. I enjoy fishing, hunting, kayaking, dirt biking, camping, and Jiu Jitsu. Finding time to do all of these has become more challenging as of late!

Coming from corporate retail and Human Resources, I am excited to be following my passion for home renovations. I now oversee the growth of our office and design center, all while helping clients make their dream home a reality. I am excited to bring my corporate experience to a small, family owned business. Despite a large difference in industries, the communication, organization and customer service skills I possess will help our projects run as smoothly for your family as possible.

When I am not in the office I enjoy spending time with my husband and our friends, golfing, traveling and raising our golden retriever, Otis.

Growing up in an historic neighborhood in intown Atlanta, I’ve always been intrigued and interested in architecture and home design. Little did I know, our 1907 house would be my first real classroom for build and design. My father is a long time builder, logistics wiz, and perhaps the king of D.I.Y. My mother always utilized her teaching skills (and patience) to wrangle and keep our seemingly endless imaginations and energies in line. I have them to thank for the abilities I continue to develop in building, problem solving, and communication.

I’ve been building and designing for many years now - from commercial concrete work, to custom homes, to restaurant and bar spaces. I love to see people interact with and be a part of their new spaces. I enjoy learning anything new, honing skills, job specific tools (there’s a tool for everything!), and fine finish work.

In my free time I’m an avid outdoorsperson : birder, fisherman, forager, backpacker, boater. I love learning about languages and cultures from all over which blends perfectly into one of my favorite things : cooking (and entertaining!). I also love seeing shows, collecting records, and love to play music as well. As a new Colorado transplant, I’m very lucky to have found Tom and Brook and I look forward to meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations!
