A couple months ago, I went into the garage and saw the two loud window unit air conditioners that have graced our house with their presence every May-September. They worked fine, but seriously - the room where the upstairs one resided could have doubled as a meat locker it was so cold. We priced central air, but decided we didn't really want to spend $7000 to get it installed (ouch!) and concluded that a swamp cooler would meet our summer cooling needs. I guess they are officially called evaporative coolers (said in my most debonair voice), but we affectionately refer to ours as "swampy". The installation of swampy has been nothing short of ridiculously long and pretty annoying in its complexity, but dear handy husband never ceases to amaze me with his determination and knowledge of how to do such things. It involved about 300 trips up and down a 20-foot ladder, multiple hot days in an attic full of gross old insulation and having to make two holes in our drywall to get the electrical connection up and running...just to name a few things I would have no idea how to do or desire to do them. I guess it's time to fix the holes,. so here he is, up on a tiny step stool making that happen. I'll show you the final product tomorrow, because from what I hear, the thing he needs to finish it is "all dried up". Another trip to Home Depot is in his horizon. Until then, sweet dreams and happy projecting!
